Sacred Heart
After the death of his pregnant wife, a religious man rejects his faith and challenges both God and the Devil.
Sacred Heart follows Robert, a man of faith whose pregnant wife is killed. He turns on God, and a visit from his priest pushes the argument further, until the priest begins to look like a mirror of Robert’s own mind.
Kosta Nikas wrote and directed the feature. David Field plays the priest. Kipan Rothbury plays Robert. Lizzie Schebesta and Barbara Gouskos also star. The opening was shot at Waverley Cemetery in Bronte, above the sea.
The film premiered at the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival in 2016 and had its Australian premiere at the Greek Film Festival that October, at Palace Cinema Leichhardt in Sydney and Palace Cinema Como in Melbourne. Devilworks sold it. Gravitas Ventures released it in the United States and Canada in 2018. Other deals included Umbrella Entertainment for Australia and New Zealand, Take One for Benelux, Kino Świat for Poland, Cinema Republic for Korea, Minh Ngan for Vietnam, and Movie Cloud for Taiwan.
